My Birthday Weekend - York

With the stress of moving into our house soon I suggested a little weekend trip away for my birthday,

as a chance to get away from it all and spend some quality time with each other. We'd had York on our list of places to visit for well over a year now so I thought this was the perfect time to go!

We stayed at the Hotel Ibis in York which was a reasonable price and in a good central location. It was just outside of the city walls so we got to walk along the walls every time we wanted to head into the city centre, After getting our navigations of the city we decided it was time to find some food for the evening, and surprise surprise - we ended up at a pizza express. I'm sure this happened in London the year before.
In the morning we headed out for breakfast to All Bar One. It was delicious! We both opted for the full english and it was the best breakfast I've ever eaten. (So tasty we headed back the next day too. That time opting for pancakes) After scoffing our faces we hit a few of the local attractions we had on our list.

  • Jorvik Viking Center - Hadn't been since we were both small children, and its smells the same!
  • York Castle
  • York Castle Museum
  • York Museum
  • Rowntree Park
  • The Shambles
It was nice having a relaxing break but still managing to fit everything in.

York is a really beautiful city with plenty to see and do, and has great shopping and restaurant selections too.
